- A sculpture made for a house on an island, it forms the entrance gate to to the house which acts as a kind of ‘memory-theatre’ with it’s garden constantly shifting and undulating. The Sculpture takes the form of “The Baroness” – Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven; Dada-ist figurehead, Surrealist poet, model and muse to Marcel Duchamp.
Designed as a ‘Celebration’ to the house on the island the sculpture form echos in form and presence across various parts of both house and garden at varying scales from the micro to the macro and from the biological to the mechanical. The model was made as part of an extended project by Neil Spiller and photographed in collaboration with graphic designer Vaughan Oliver and v23.
